Nestled within the historical framework of the Romantics, the distinctly French painters of the late 19th century Barbizon School were concerned with invoking realism in the continental landscapes they sought to capture.

The poetic sensibilities of painters such as Camille Corot, Jean-François Millet, Constant Troyon, Charles Jacque and Théodore Rousseau sought to capture the simple beauty and truth of country living, defined by rising and setting of the sun and the forest clearings beyond Fontainebleau. Our frames of this period below invoke these timeless sensibilities with subtly romantic shapes suited to compliment any landscape in your collection.
